SUMMER SALE IS HAPPENING AS WE SPEAK......

As summer wraps up, I find myself wishing for an additional month or two. Our northeast summers are way too short and I always feel just a tad cheated. The ocean doesn't even warm up until after July 4rth! But there is a silver lining. I DO get excited about new jewelry and fashion trends for the upcoming season. Somehow, wearing a cashmere sweater at night feels cozy after hot nights of wearing nothing. Sleeping with the window open, air conditioner be damned, definitely has its merits too. And then again....I kind of like seeing the butterflies return in full regalia, flirting around the few blooms that survived the summer heat; it's the mums, I can do without. When mums start appearing outside every supermarket, I know summer is officially toast. To me, the mum is like Cinderella's ugly sister. The rose in bloom, wow, versus the mum's appearance, ugh.

So what is trending this upcoming season? Big eye-popping rings are still in the running and long, intricate earrings are back. Wearing mismatched, but complimentary earrings is still cool. Last winter the focus was on substantial necklaces, which work better when paired with smaller earrings, but now the emphasis is reversed and statement earrings rule. Wearing both simultaneously is a design faux pas, so don't even think about it.

Angular, planar, non-moving parts are passe'. You want your earrings to have organic, rounded, voluptuous, feminine curves, I am happy to report. Mondrian planes work better for public artworks anyway.  Arabesques, paisley patterns and organic curves with tassels are the new norm, the longer the earring, the better. Think Calder mobile, not Leger planar construction.  Chandeliers that cascade down past a fitted collar or an open neckline totally rocked the runways.

Rings? Well, just be bold. A luscious, big pearl or a delicious domed cabochon will work. Or.... a bright, true-hued, faceted fancy shape is never wrong. Still favoring a necklace? Make it a choker or an elaborate bib triangle.

Stones....well diamonds never go out of style, but interesting colored stones can do the honors too.

Don't have any of these styles? Want to redesign Grandma's baubles? Let's talk.....I love a challenge.

In the meantime, look at my summer sale. :)  Time flies.......
